Short answer
6 AM to 10 PM is the most common schedule in our listings of more than 10,000 facilities. About 47% open by 6 AM on weekdays, and about 46% stay open until 10 PM or later.
Other patterns from our listings:
- 14% list 24-hour access every day of the week.
- 25% list Sunday as closed.
- Many smaller facilities keep shorter hours, such as 9 AM to 6 PM.
Gate hours and office hours are often different. The hours shown on a public listing may be either one. The office might close at 6 PM while your gate code works until 10 PM.
Ask the facility three questions:
- What time does my gate code start and stop working?
- Are the hours the same on weekends and holidays?
- If I am inside at closing time, how do I get out?
The third one matters more than people think. See whether storage units lock you in.
Every listing in our finder shows whether the facility is open right now, based on its listed hours. Use the "Open now" or "24 hours" filters to narrow the list.
